LOF COFFEE is located next to Gunja Bridge by Jungnangcheon Stream. The shop is rectangular, and upon entering, you see the coffee bar and, through the window behind it, the roasting machine. The surrounding shops include a car repair shop and a motorcycle dealer. This shop, too, might have once been a repair center; its tone is weighty. The overall color scheme is black, with yellow accents. The coffee cups and the LOF lettering are also yellow. Next to the counter, as expected of a roastery, they sell coffee beans and disposable drip bags. There are beans from various altitudes, as well as decaf.
A roastery has its own unique atmosphere. It’s the smell of the machine at work. A sense of weightiness, honesty, diligence… all those things. These days, many places also add a touch of sophistication.
A place where coffee’s intermediate production, distribution, sale, and consumption all happen together—a roastery has its own distinct vibe.
There are several male and female baristas in the shop. The men primarily seem to do the roasting, while the women brew and serve coffee. Their uniforms are black.
There are both acidic and non-acidic coffees, and I ordered the acidic one. Someone at this shop reportedly won a barista award in the winter of 2020, and while the latte art is pretty, it doesn't seem to be his work today.
The coffee has a smooth finish; there's nothing that catches in your throat. It's what I'd call a standard taste, the kind of taste a roastery ought to achieve.
A ceiling fan spins overhead, and if you stand still, you can feel the gentle breeze.
Located on the outskirts of Seongsu-dong, LOF COFFEE is a place where you can comfortably enjoy coffee even on a Saturday. If you like coffee and come to Seongsu-dong, it's worth a visit.
