This is the 5th-floor rooftop of Red Pipe in Paju.
The sunlight is good, but there's also a feeling of heat, which the wind is pushing away.
The rooftop has a palm mat floor with about 10 tables and chairs. On the tables are scarecrow-like parasols, folded up because of the wind.
Straight ahead, across a strait that looks like a river, an island stretches long to the west. Why does the sea appear hazy and grayish, almost like a tidal flat?
The surroundings are refreshing. Even the nearby mountains seem low—partly because the venue is on the elevated 5th floor, but also due to that special something one can only feel on a rooftop.
Light pop music flows from a speaker with a hole on one side. The wind gently sways under the warm sunlight.
The coffee is decent. I ordered one with acidity.
Red Pipe offers not only bakery items and brunch but also wine. On fine autumn and spring days, a drink on the rooftop is well worth the price.
Oh, even in May, the sunlight is strong. If you have sunglasses, you'll have an even better time on the rooftop.
Red Pipe, a coffee that was a feast for the eyes.
